Performances & Events in December:
*/THE WIZARD OF OZ <http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/wizardofoz.php>/ --
through December 20
Fridays & Saturdays at 8 PM, Sunday 12/7 at 2 PM *
CVLT invites you and your family to go 'over the rainbow' with L. Frank
Baum's classic story and the songs you know and love by Harold Arlen and
E.Y. Harburg. Join Dorothy Gale from Kansas (Alex Marzullo) and her
friends Scarecrow (Jace Craft), Lion (Mark DePompei) and Tin Man (Guy
Custer) as they 'follow the Yellow Brick Road' to see the Wizard of Oz
(Don Bernardo)! Laurel Bryant appears as the Wicked Witch of the West,
with Paula Pike as Glinda.
Director Greta Rothman, a life-long Oz fanatic, brings the show to life
along with musical director John Krol, choreographer Pamela LaForce.
This ambitious production is a mix of the familiar and the unexpected
that is not to be missed!
*Tickets are $16 regular or $12 student/senior* and are available online
at http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/wizardofoz.php or by calling
440.247.8955 between 1 and 6 PM. /Note: This is a full-length production
and is therefore not recommended for very young children./
*/THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES
<http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/theeight.php>/ -- through December 13
Fridays & Saturdays **at 8 PM* at the River Street Playhouse
Rudolph is in a padded stall, Santa is on a bender, and the reindeer are
talking to anyone who will listen in /The Eight: Reindeer Monoologues/,
a hard-hitting, chocolatey-dark holiday confection now playing at our
River Street Playhouse (56 River St, next to the main CVLT building).
This hysterically tart alternative to the usual sugar-coated holiday
fare sees scandal erupt at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny
reindeer accuses him of decidedly un-Christmas-like behavior. As the
media descends, the other members of the elite sleigh team share their
articulate and sometimes sordid confessions, spinning a tale of
corruption that implicates everyone from the littlest elf to Saint Nick
himself. If your holiday entertainment tastes are a little less
'peppermint stick' and a little more 'sour ball', /The Eight/ is the
perfect gift to your funnybone and a refreshing 'gin and tonic' for
those who are already "holidayed-out"!
*Tickets are $8* and are available online at
http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/theeight.php or by calling 440.247.8955
between 1 and 6 PM. Complimentary wine will be served before the
performance. /Due to strong language and dark subject matter, we
recommend leaving the fawns at home!/
*/Holiday Show & Gingerbread Tea with Santa
<http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/gingerbread.php>/ -- December 13/14
Saturday & Sunday **at 1 PM and 3:30 PM*
Children will delight in this lighthearted romp with Mrs. Claus, Frosty,
Mousie the mouse puppet, Santa's elves, Rudolph and other characters. As
ever, Old Man Winter will show up to cause havoc with his antics until
he is caught and taught a lesson. Children are invited on stage to help
sing Christmas songs, and Santa Claus himself will arrive near the end
of the show for photo opportunities with Santa and their favorite
characters.
'Gingerbread Tea' featuring punch and snacks is available upstairs in
CVLT's River Room a half-hour before and after each showtime (12:30 &
1:30 for 1 PM shows and and 3:00 & 4:00 for 3:30 PM shows). Tea seating
is limited to 60 per tea-time and must be reserved in advance. When
purchasing your show tickets, please specify which tea time (if any) you
wish to add-on for each show ticket you've selected. *Show tickets are
$6, $2 add-on per ticket for tea reservations.*
*/Here We Go A Wassailing
<http://www.cvlt.org/79thSeason/cfso-wassail.php>/ -- December 21
Sunday **at 7 PM*
Join Stephen Eva and the Chagrin Studio Orchestra for a concert of your
favorite Christmas songs. Bring your family, sing along, and enjoy
treats and perhaps a visit from St. Nick himself. The wassail bowl will
be served at 6:15 - come early and toast the season! *All tickets are $15.*
