Fools is about Kulyenchikov, a mythical Ukranian Village of "long ago" whose residents all live under an evil curse of stupidity and the efforts of a young idealistic teacher who must break the curse or fall victim to it himself.  All he has to do is teach one thing to a hapless but likeable young lady of the village or have her fall in love with him.
