[NEohioPAL] WED. 2/18: CELEBRATE PRES. DAY W/ ODDY!
Oddy Festival
oddyfest at gmail.com
Sun Feb 15 07:56:00 PST 2009
Celebrate Presidents' Day (two days later) in style: Come out to the Heights
Arts Studio (2340 Lee Road) at 7 for the final showing of the 3-play
package *OddyFest February, "Follow the Leaders"!* We explore the imperfect
leaders of the past (Henry VIII & Edward VIII) and the future (a faceless
immoral global corporation, just like that terrible new Clive Owen movie!).
Come early (doors open 6:45) for the music of Ryan Ferren, and stay after
the plays for a poetry reading in celebration of Oddy's six-month
anniversary: "Ode to Cleveland." Hope to see you this Wednesday at 7:00--
as always *NEOhioPAL referencers get in for $5*!
*The SIXTH ODDY FEST SHOW*:
*Follow the Leaders*
*"A Royal Mess" by Oscar E. Moore*
*(staged reading of a scene excerpt)*
* *
King Henry VIII and Wife #4 Anne of Cleves have some difficulty on their
honeymoon: he speaks English; she speaks Flemish.
*"Euphorication" by Timo Aker*
We take a brief respite from the historical past to look at the brave new
future: a world where corporations have all the complacent answers and give
us all "euphies" when things get rough. So, like, circa 2011.
* "The Life and Death of King Edward VIII" by Matt Greenfield*
King for a year in 1936, playboy and Nazi-sympathizer Edward has a bigger
problem with the British people: he wants to marry an American divorcee...
*That's not all!*
*Be sure to join us at 7 o'clock sharp for the musical stylings of*
*Ryan Ferren and stick around after the show for a reading of*
*"Ode to Cleveland" by Matt Greenfield.*
* *
