CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM LAUNCHES ITS 2009 SEASON ON APRIL 3 WITH “THE
MINEOLA TWINS” BY PAULA VOGEL

Playwright Paula Vogel describes THE MINEOLA TWINS as “a comedy in six
scenes, four dreams, and (at least) six wigs.” She goes on to add, “There
are two ways to do this play: 1. With good wigs. 2. With bad wigs.
Personally, I prefer the second way.” And the wigs and costumes will be
flying as our cast of four quick-changes their way through a madcap series
of characters and decades.

One actress plays both Myra and Myrna, the almost identical twins.
(Myra’s flat as a pancake; Myrna shops in the Dolly Parton section of the
foundations department.) Starting out as a wickedly wild take on those
'50s teenage chick-exploitation flicks that pit the “good girl” against
the “bad girl,” the play follows the twins as they battle each other
through high school in the 1950’s right up to the culture wars of the
‘90’s over virginity, Vietnam, Family Values – and dirty socks.

Artistic Director Clyde Simon directs. The cast includes long-time
company members Lucy Bredeson-Smith and Geoffrey Hoffman. Bredeson-Smith
takes on the dual role of the twins, and Hoffman woos them both as Jim.
Bret Holden, last seen as the Handsome Prince in Poona the F#&kdog,
returns to convergence-continuum in the dual roles of both twins’ teenage
sons; and Pandora Robertson makes her first appearance with the company as
one twin’s “roommate” -- and as choreographer for the production as well.

THE MINEOLA TWINS opens Friday, April 3 and runs Thu-Sat through May 2 at
the Liminis, 2438 Scranton Rd. in Cleveland’s historic Tremont
neighborhood. All shows are at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 general admission,
$12 students/seniors (65+). For information and reservations call
216-687-0074 or visit www.convergence-continuum.org.
