Audition Preparation: Your Monologue Portfolio

Creating and maintaining an extensive selection of audition monologues is beneficial for many reasons.

Most actors have just four monologues they can perform at a moment’s notice – One classical, one contemporary, something comedic and maybe something with a twist to it.  Many actors feel this is enough to get by on when auditioning for a theatre’s “open call” or during an interview with an agent.  But if you want to give yourself the greatest flexibility and increase your chances for success, then you should endeavor to create a wide assortment of monologue material to choose from.
