Gilligan's Island - The Musical!

 

America's most beloved TV show is back and better than ever as
Gilligan's Island - The Musical! Gilligan's Island - The Musical!
features everyone's favorite characters including Gilligan, The Skipper,
Mary Ann, Ginger, The Professor, The Millionaire and his wife. Written
by the same man who created the hit series Gilligan's Island and the
creator of The Brady Bunch, Sherwood Schwartz, Gilligan's Island - The
Musical! features 20 original songs written by Paul McCartney's lead
guitarist, Lawrence Juber. Having already played to sold out audiences
across the country, Gilligan's Island is the absolutely perfect new
musical for a nostalgia trip of a lifetime.  "The Sun will never set on
the affection for and antics of Gilligan and his friends." Variety;
"Love and Lust among the coconuts", wrote People Magazine; "You've got

Suenos y Esperanza: Hopes and Dreams 

Now through Sunday, May 3, 2009 - FREE

   

A special exhibition featuring "I'll Sing in Silence," a portfolio of
serigraph prints by Jose R. Alicea, inspired by the poetry and prose of
Pablo Neruda. Also featured are Prayer sticks and Sculpture by Mario
Kujawski, including an outdoor  environmental sculpture created by the
artist and LCCC art students. This exhibit also includes art, poetry,
and an oral history collection by LCCC students, as well as
illustrations and poetry by students from Longfellow Middle School,
Lorain. These illustrations have been included in a children's book
authored by Dr. Raquel Ortiz, which is featured in the exhibition. 



Gallery Special Event:  Postlude and Pilgrimage

Sunday, May 3 from 2 - 5pm

Featuring the Sacred Heart Chapel 12:00 Mass Choir, performing at 3pm,
and a Pilgrimage walk to the Suenos y Esperanza environmental sculpture
at 4pm. 

 

Sponsored by the Stocker Arts Center and the Lorain County Sacred
Landmarks Initiative, in collaboration with the LCCC Arts and Humanities
Department, Sacred Heart Chapel, the Lorain City Schools, and the
Hispanic Leadership Conference. Funding provided by the Community
Foundation of Lorain County, the Hispanic Fund, and the Lorain County
Sacred Landmarks Initiative.

"Who Killed the Electric Car" - 2006 (G) 92 min. USA

Chris Paine's documentary about why General Motors crushed its fleet of
EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert despite the fact that it was
among the fastest, most efficient production cars ever built.

Help celebrate Professor Bob Dudash's 70th Birthday with complimentary
food and drinks in the Stocker Arts Center lobby between films.
Professor Dudash has been the LCCC Film Society Director since its
inception!

"The Valet" - 2006 (PG-13) 85 min. France/subtitles 

This tart romantic comedy treads a fine line between cynicism and
sentiment: love might need an initial boost from pretense, but, from
then on, it's what's underneath that counts. The intricate and lively
plot, perfect timing and variety of unusual characters make "THE VALET"
a hilariously good time.

Tickets: $5 (with $3 annual membership)

LCCC Civic Orchestra Concert 

The Civic Orchestra will perform the concluding concert of its 2008-2009
season with the beautiful music of:
Charles Ives. The Unanswered Question
George Gershwin. Concerto in F, Brian Wilson, Guest Piano Soloist
Claude Debussy. Three Nocturnes 
Tickets: $7/Adults; $6/LCCC Students, Staff & Seniors 65+; $5/Groups of

LCCC Civic Concert Band in Concert - FREE! 

Please join the Civic Concert Band, directed by Mark Wainwright, as they
presents"Bravo Broadway".
