ABOUT AIDA
SRTC Summer Workshop presents Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA for this season's musical theatre workshop! AIDA is a contemporary musical adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aïda, a tale of the love between an Egyptian soldier and an enslaved Nubian princess—love that condemns them to death, but ultimately gives birth to a reign of peace in Ancient Egypt. Elton John's pop-rock score features stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers that are a modern crowd pleaser.

THE WORKSHOP
SRTC’s summer musical theatre workshop is a tuition-based program open to students entering grades nine through twelve, and college freshmen, is geared for young artists who are interested in expanding their knowledge and craft in acting, voice, movement and dance. The six-week workshop process will include: world dance, intense stage movement, health & fitness, among others taught by professional theatre artists. (Students must enroll in workshop program prior to auditioning. For registration information please visit www.srtcdrama.org. **TUITION CREDIT PROGRAM AVAILABLE!** Apply soon! DEADLINE FOR EARLY REGISTRATION IS JUNE 7th!)

AUDITIONS
SRTC welcomes young actors of all backgrounds and talent levels to audition for our productions. All roles are open. (For high school students, and recent graduates.) Seeking a large multiracial cast of talented actors who can sing, act and move well. Actors should prepare two short (16-24 bars) songs not to exceed one minute, preferably one up-tempo and one ballad. Songs must be modern or contemporary musical theatre (1960s to present). Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be present. Music MUST be in your key. Actors WILL NOT be permitted to sing a Cappella. Most roles require dancing (an "eclectic" mix of modern, contemporary, and jazz). Please dress for heavy movement and be stretched and warmed up at the beginning of the audition. SRTC's casting is not based on age, grade level, where actors attend school, or where actors may have studied. Casting is strictly based on the specific character requirements of the play and talent available at
the audition. All actors who audition will be cast in the very best place for them in this production.

*** Callbacks are "to be determined," but are currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. ***
