There are some neat events going on at the Medina County District
Libraries in support of the Summer Reading Celebration theme of "Be

Ignite the Spark: It's Instrumental!*

Tired of playing air guitar? Woodsy's Music will offer you a chance to
play acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, mandolins, dulcimers and
violins. Their teachers will offer instruction. Open to beginners and
more advanced players.
Handwriting Detective 101*
Wed., June 10, 6:30 pm - Lodi Library
Thurs., June 11, 6:30 pm - Buckeye Library
Join us as Michelle Dresbold, author of Sex, Lies, and Handwriting and
the only civilian to attend the U.S. Secret Service advance document
training program, shares her expertise. Become an instant detective in
this interactive session as she shows you how to decipher the penmanship
of some notorious con artists and liars.
Ignite the Spark - Landscape watercolor work-a-long with Cathy Welner*
Sat., June 13, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
Registration is required and limited.

Acclaimed watercolor artist Cathy Welner will teach basic watercolor
techniques for beginners and intermediate students. Bring supplies

Ignite the Spark: Writing Your First Book*

Join authors, Rebecca Meluch (Strength and Honor, Wolf Star), Donna
MacMeans (Seduction of a Duke, The Trouble with Moonlight, Tails of
Love), Tracy (Olivia) Parker (At the Bride Hunt Ball , To Wed a Wicked
Earl ) and Mary Ann Chulick, (All Creatures Great and...Dead, Game Time)
as they share the dos and don'ts, the ins and outs of writing and
getting published. Learn about their mistakes and how to avoid them. A
brief panel discussion will be followed by extensive audience Q&A.
Ignite the Spark: Presenting Your Portfolio; getting noticed as an
artist*

Artist and teacher John Smolko will give a presentation on preparing a
portfolio for competition and scholarship consideration, the
fundamentals of a dynamic portfolio and present slides of successful
portfolios. He will discuss the importance of the three D's of success;
desire, dedication, and discipline, followed by a question and answer

Ignite the Spark: Beginning Improv for Adults*

Looking to brush up on your acting skills? Or just looking to learn
something new and fun? Join us as Cleveland-area actor and dancer Carli
Taylor Miluk teaches the basics of improvisation. Open to beginners as
well as seasoned theatre professionals.
Ignite the Spark: The Real Work Behind Movie Magic*
Mon., Aug. 10, 6:30 pm
Brunswick Library Sycamore Room
Independent film producer Chris Staron (Bringing up Bobby, Between the
Walls) will speak about the trials and tribulations associated with
creating and marketing an independent film. Chris' experience has taken
him from working on major television shows like Hell's Kitchen and The
Bernie Mac Show to producing his own movies in the Cleveland area.
Topics discussed will include creating a good script, setting a budget,
casting, and an emphasis on getting a return for your investment.
Questions are welcome.
