Announcing Private Acting Classes!
International actor and director Dr. Jerry Jaffe is now offering private acting classes in the Lake County area. Dr. Jaffe has acted and directed professionally in Japan and New Zealand, as well as around the United States. He currently teaches acting and theatre at Lake Erie College in Painesville. He has also taught at the University of Otago in New Zealand, Tsukuba University in Japan, as well as Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo.
Gain the benefit of private acting classes, including the creativity and fun of this art form. Private lessons allow both the instructor and the student to focus on what is really needed. We set personal goals and work together to attain them. This includes a high-level of personal attention and the opportunity to focus on the details of your work. Lessons are usually 45 minutes, and may be one-on-one or small group.

Dr. Jaffe has his MA from Brown University (1991) and his PhD from Bowling Green State University (1998). His training also includes improvisation with the Second City, Viewpoints with Anne Bogart and SITI, Cleveland’s Theatre Labyrinth, and Meisner work, among others.
Dr. Jaffe has directed numerous productions. While in Japan he ran a community theatre known as Bingo Parallax. Of his many New Zealand productions, his 2006 production of Neil La Bute’s Shape of Things was included in an annual wrap-up of theatre as one of the best productions of the year, and mentioning its lead actress as one of the best performances of the year: <http://www.listener.co.nz/issue/3477/artsbooks/7802/play_on.html>. Also in NZ, his 2007 production of Charles Ludlam’s Stage Blood was cited for its lead actor as one of the best performances of the year: <http://www.listener.co.nz/issue/3529/artsbooks/10224/the_year_of_rats_penguins.html>. His recent Lake Erie College production of Theatre is a Strange Loop was covered in the News Herald: <http://www.news-herald.com/articles/2009/03/31/life/nh673613.txt>. In recent years he has played both Antipholus twins in Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors and Jean in Ionesco’s Rhinoceros.
