Main Street Medina Reaches 100 Member Benchmark

 

(Medina, Ohio- June 12, 2009) - Main Street Medina today announced that they
have met their goal of 100 members supporting the program. Named an official
Ohio Main Street program in December of 2007, the dedicated group of over 25
volunteers have spent the last 18 months promoting the nine-block historic
district as the heart of the community. Main Street Medina achieved critical
success within its first year by becoming a nationally accredited Main
Street Program as noted by Heritage Ohio. 

 

Membership chairperson, Pam Miller noted "We're very pleased that the
business and resident communities have supported the program with their
membership dues. The economy is very tough right now, so it means even more
that people are willing to invest in downtown."

 

Funding through membership sales is critical for the continuation of the
program and its goals. Main Street Medina is celebrating the recent success
of the 3rd Annual Chalk Art Festival that attracted over 3,500 people to the
Square on May 30th, 2009. They are also planning the first Medina Cultural
Heritage Day, set for August 29, 2009, and were able to secure major
sponsorship by The Cleveland Clinic and Medina General Hospital. Planning
will soon begin for the Silver Anniversary, 25th Annual Candlelight Walk. 

 

Main Street Medina has also cemented strategic partnerships with City
departments and other organizations to improve the aesthetic look of the
historic district, to support existing businesses and to recruit new
business to town, and to address wayfinding and parking issues.
