Audition Notice
The Berea Grindstone Players will hold auditions for To Gillian on Her 37th
Birthday, by Michael Brady and directed by Tim Peebles.
Auditions will be held Sunday, August 2nd from 3:00-5:00 pm and Monday,
August 3rd from 7:00-8:30 pm. Auditions will be held at:
St. Andrews Presbyterian Church
23114 West Rd
Olmsted Falls, OH 44138
Auditions will consist of reading from the script. All roles are open and
they are as follows:
David 35-45. Temporarily retired college professor. He has shut himself
off from his family and fallen into a state of depression since the
accidental death of his wife.
Rachel 16. (prefer 19-22 year old who looks the part) Davids daughter.
Trying to maintain a strong façade for her dad while coping with the loss of
her mother.
Cindy 16. (prefer 19-22 year old who looks the part) Rachels best friend
with a vunerable side and fierce loyalty to David and Rachel.
Paul 40s-50s. Davids brother-in-law (married to Esther). Uses humor to
try to diffuse any tense situation.
Esther 40s-50s. Gillians sister. An assertive, take charge
psychologist.
Kevin: Female late 20s early 30s. A recently divorced friend of Paul and
Esthers who is good-naturedly back in the man market.
Gillian-mid 30s. Davids late wife who is a free spirit who nightly
rendezvous on the beach with David.
Synopsis: Since his wifes drowning death, David has retired from life on
his cottage on Nantucket Island with his daughter Rachel. But David is
obsessed with his dead wife and keeps her alive in a nightly rendezvous on
the beach. On the second anniversary of Gillians death, Gillians sister
and brother-in-law visit the island for the weekend, bringing a woman friend
in hopes of helping David come to terms with his grief. A touching story of
enduring and obsessive love.
Directed by Tim Peebles. Performances will be October 16, 17, 18, 23 and 24.
