The Dover Players community theater group, sponsored by the North Olmsted
Cultural Activities Commission, celebrates the summer season with a classic
play by Lillian Hellman - The Children's Hour, directed by Sheldon Lawrence.
Here is information about this dramatic and well-acted play:

The Children's Hour
Setting: A small town in New England in the 1930s.
Synopsis: Karen Wright and Martha Dobie, two young women, have a private
boarding school for girls. One of the girls, a real brat, is caught in a
lie and punished. She runs away from the school and goes to her
grandmother. She tells her grandmother that Karen and Martha are lesbians
(not true) and the grandmother, without checking, believes her. She calls
the parents of the other girls, who take their children out of the school.
The truth does come out in the end, but the lives of the two women have been
ruined.

NOTE: The Old Town Hall is located just south of the intersection of Dover
Center Road (runs North and South) and Lorain Avenue (runs East and West) in
North Olmsted. As you travel south on Dover Center Road you will pass the
Police Station on the right. The Old Town Hall is the small building between
the Police Station and City Hall. You may park in the lot to the left of the
Old Town Hall building.
Cost
Admission is FREE, first come, first serve. Arrive early for best seats to
view the performance.
