The Cleveland Hungarian Cultural Gardens

      will host a FREE event open to the community.

·                     "Concert In The Garden"

·                     Sunday,   Aug 2,  2009,    from 2:00-4:00. 

·                     Featuring: Marcia Snavely.  

·                                      Piano selections from composer Franz Liszt.

Dan Anderson,     Violinist,     Hungarian & Ethnic folk tunes.

 

Oleg Kruglyakov & Terry Boyarsky: Virtuoso Balalaika-Piano Duo 

 

In addition to the concert, there will be a tree planting to replace the dogwood trees following the original garden design from 1938 and a new sign dedication. Music will run almost continuously except from 2:15-2:45 for the planting & dedication.

 

Work on the Hungarian Cultural Garden started in 1934 with the dedication of a plaque commemorating the 123rd birthday of composer Franz Liszt. In the spirit of the grand music of this great composer, come and enjoy the newly rededicated garden, hear Liszt's music, and see the splendor at the height of the summer.

 

Bring a blanket or chair and a picnic basket and enjoy the entire afternoon.

The Hungarian Gardens 1070  East Blvd are located in Rockefeller Park between East Blvd. and Martin Luther King Blvd., between E 88th St. and Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44108.     

 

Marcia Snavely started performing and accompanying piano at age 6 and organ by age 12. She has always has a multi-faceted career. While at CWRU she completed chemistry studies as well as a graduate program in classical organ. Marcia has been a research scientist specializing in analytical chemistry, co-authored a book and is a patented inventor! She runs her own consulting firm, (Marcia Snavely Inc.), and completed two CD's that include modern piano interpretations of folksongs, hymns and Christmas music. Presently she is organist at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, Dean for the Cleveland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and Director of Music for various productions for Actors Summit Professional Theater. She plays events for Northern Ohio Opera League (NOOL), the Hungarian Heritage Society, Hungarian Cultural Gardens, and many private and community organizations, schools and theaters (too many to mention). Marcia's musical skills are legend, as she coaches and accompanies many musical venues - classical, light jazz, religious, choral, opera and Broadway show tunes.
