[NEohioPAL] ONE WEEK 'TIL "FROM MARS & VENUS"

Please consider joining us next *Wednsday, 8/5, at 7:15* for Oddy's last
month of Wednesdays and last month in the *Heights Arts Studio (2340 Lee
Road*). Which means this is the last month we can write this *Big
Lebowski*quote: "Whoo! You got a date Wednesday, baby!"

The August program is *"From Mars & Venus*," a wacky series of three plays,
six songs, and one prose reading which all examine the ambiguity of gender
identity and stereotypes. We've got "The Breathing Contest," a one-person
conversation on a HAM Radio, "With Flying Color" about color commentators,
and "The Play About Women" (still trying to figure out what that one is
about).

Hope to see you *next Wednesday at 7:15 at the Studio*-- next month Oddy
re-imagines itself in Year Two according to the Three F's: Fridays, From the
Library, and Free! So this is the last month for discounts: as
always, *NEOhioPAL
mentioners get in for HALF-PRICE ($5*), but this time, if you say that above
*Big Lebowski* quote with correct accent and with proper accompanying pelvic
thrust, then we'll let you in for FREE!

*From Mars & Venus: The TWELFTH ODDY FEST SHOW*

* *

*Featuring a trilogy of gender-themed plays by Ian Adler*

*and a generous smattering of boy-band & diva musical numbers.*

* *

*Plays by Ian Adler*

*“The Breathing Contest”: A Satyr Play*

A young wo/man talks to a trucker by the name of Big Tex over the H.A.M.
radio sometime in the ‘70s. A short one-person show, to be performed by a
female one night, and a male the other.

*With Flying Color*

What starts out as trite color commentary of a football game turns into a
Beckettian break-down of language and expression. All-male cast.

*The Play About Women*

Three female characters find themselves in a play obviously written by a
man, and try to express their true selves outside of the gender stereotypes
in which they have been molded.

*Songs by Hamilton’s Revenge! and Friends*

In between the plays are songs that reflect gender roles and conflict, from
“Boy Girl Cry” to “My Name Isn’t Jonas” to a rap-tastic battle of the sexes.

*Check’s by the Door: a novel-in-progress by Matt Greenfield*

Concluding the evening is an investigation of fe/male gender roles in prose
from the ringmaster himself.

*Odd Wednesdays of August: *

*August 5 / August 19*

*Doors Open at 7:15 *
