–  MorrisonDance and Antaeus Dance –
for an evening of original dance under the stars
 
MorrisonDance and Antaeus Dance open the annual Arts in August dance series in Lincoln Park in Tremont 
Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 8:30pm.
This is a free event and the public is encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and friends.
 

 
In honor of this staged Tremont appearance, MorrisonDance will present Radke’s Melancholy Chromosomes in celebration of Artistic Director and Principle Choreographer Sarah Morrison's husband Scott Radke’s artistic contributions to the Tremont neighborhood, as well as the whimsical Tray Magnifique, featuring waitresses who transform their trays into cars and drum kits!  The evening will also highlight two recent premieres from the 2009 Ingenuity Festival: Goethe’s Color Theory and 9.8 m/s2, an upbeat and entertaining tribute to the speed of falling objects.
 
Antaeus Dance will perform two audience favorites and a recent premiere.  Director Joan Meggitt’s Hidden Dialogue explores body language in an athletic conversation of non-stop movement.  A strong representation of Meggitt’s aesthetics, this dance combines abstracted gestures within a constant flow of movement, including strong partnering between the three dancers.  FFA: Fairy Flight Academy, by founding company member Holly Labbe Cole, is a family favorite featuring four over-grown fairies who are trying to earn their wings.  Despite their many failed attempts, these four fledglings do not give up, practicing their formations with humorous determination.  Meggitt’s new quartet Drift In, Drop Out features the visceral poetry of Allen Ginsberg.  Equally at home on the ground and in the air, the dancers create a shifting landscape that soothes and excites with flowing movement and intense gestures.
