Singer/songwriter Abby Linhart will be on tour in Northeastern Ohio in the month of September in support of her new CD, Requiem for Eli, Volume 1. Abby was a fixture on the local music scene and gave her first public performance at age 11 with her brother Buzzy.  In 1970 she met Liam Clancy at Pickle Bill’s in the Flats.  She studied traditional British Isles folk music with Clancy, and was headlining at the Cain Coffeehouse and the Ichtus Coffeehouse.  In the mid 70s she hosted a Sunday evening show at the Red Horse Hollow bringing in other traditional folk musicians.  She was music director 1981-83 for the Coventry Street Fair and in 1981 she founded Rivercity Music, a production company dedicated to presenting traditional music in the Cleveland area.  Artists included: Claudia Schmidt, The Boys of the Lough, Trapezoid, The Tanahill Weavers, Mike Seeger and Elizabeth Cotton, Grey Larsen and Malcom Dalgish, and Jean Redpath.
Abby will be performing a live concert at Tri-C Metro’s Little Theater Friday September 18th as part of the CROOKED RIVER GROOVE/WORDS AND MUSIC SERIES.  Showtime is 11 am; admission is free (parking is 75 cents).  Enter from the Woodland side of campus. For more information call 216-987-3277
On Saturday, September 26th at 8pm, Abby will also be part of an installation at the Bridge Project, an offshoot of James Levin’s Ingenuity Festival. www.thebridgeproject.com
