The Youngstown Playhouse will hold auditions for the upcoming holiday production, MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, Monday and Tuesday, October 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., at the theatre, 600 Playhouse Lane.

?

Adapted from the classic novel by Valentine Davies, MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET was also made into a popular film starring Natalie Woods, Maureen O'Hara and Edmund Gwenn. The story concerns 

a man who calls himself, "Kris Kringle,"?and appears to be the personification of good will and the holiday spirit.?He is hired to play Santa Claus at Macy's Deprtment Store during the Christmas season, and completely enchants children and shoppers. But when "Kris" seems to be TOO good at his job, he is deemed dangerous by his fellow employees, who question his competency and plot to ruin him. A small girl's belief in Santa and the magic of the holiday is at stake as the case against "Kris Kringle" proceeds to a climactic courtroom decision. The tender and charming show is a treat for the entire family.

Director, Marlene Menaldi Strollo needs a large cast of men, age 35 and up; women, age 20 and up; 1 girl, 8-10 years old; and several children, age 6 and up. Those auditioning should ?bring a wallet size photo? and will be asked to read from the script. Rehearsals will begin October 12, and can include some afternoons, depending on the availability of the cast.

Performances for MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET will be weekends, December 11-13, and December 18-20. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. For further information, contact the box office at (330) 788-8739.
