Cleveland State University and Solon Center for the Arts present
the second in the series of the Chamber Music Collective on Sunday, October
18 at 3:00 pm at SCA. This concert will feature the highly-acclaimed Almeda
Trio. Concert-goers are also invited to a pre-concert ‘conversation’ with
the artists at 2:15 pm in the Gallery and a ‘Meet the Artists’ reception
immediately following the concert.

Almeda Trio members are Robert Cassidy, piano; Cara Tweed,
violin; and Ida Mercer, cello. Each of these accomplished musicians is part
of the faculty at The Music School Settlement, where the trio is in
residence. Dr. Cassidy is also a member of the piano faculty at Cleveland
State University. The trio is named after Almeda Adams. This arts
advocate, social activist, published author, composer, singer, voice
teacher, pianist and philanthropist founded The Music Settlement in 1912. A
great role model, she demonstrates that individuals can make a significant
difference in their community.

This concert will feature: Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio, Copland’s
Vitebsk, and Mendelssohn’s Trio in D Minor, Op. 49.

As an added bonus to audience members, the Almeda Trio’s new CD,
released in July and featuring works by Haydn, Shostakovich, and Brahms,
will be available for purchase at a 33% savings at the reception following
the concert. Kelly Ferjutz, reviewer for *Cool Cleveland,* recently wrote:
“The Almeda Trio is not quite a year old, but it certainly exhibits an
impressive maturity, not to mention a terrific degree of togetherness in
this, its first CD. It’s a wonderful sampler of piano trio literature and
an exemplary showpiece for this new trio.”

The last in the Chamber Music Collective Series inaugural season
is scheduled on April 25, 2010. This concert will feature the Almeda Trio,
and others who will perform works in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of
the birth of Robert Schumann.

Concert tickets are $15 reserved seating, $10 for seniors and
students. Solon Center for the Arts is located at 6315 SOM Center Road, on
the corners of Bainbridge and SOM Center Roads in Solon. For more
information, or to reserve tickets by phone, call (440) 337-1400.
