Senior College Day at Lakeland Community College, Friday October 16
 
8:45 - 9:15 a.m. - Check-In and Coffee in  H-Building, Room 101 

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. - The  Golden Age of Television with Mike Olszewski Mike 
Olszewski is a veteran  broadcaster and longtime media historian. His 
upcoming book, TV Daze: Stories  from the Golden Age of Cleveland Television, 
provides the basis for this  seminar. Mike will share stories from the 
pioneering days of Cleveland  television. Stations like WNBK/ KYW / WKYC, WXEL / WJW 
and the first  station-WEWS-as well as renowned personalities Dorothy 
Fuldheim, Linn Sheldon  (Barnaby), Ron Penfound (Captain Penny), Ernie Anderson 
(Ghoulardi), Tom Field,  Bill Jorgensen, Ray Stawriaski (Franz the Toymaker), 
Clay Conroy (Woodrow the  Woodsman), Gene Carroll, and many more. Mike 
provides insight into the  development of the well-remembered shows that became a 
part of our lives-with  interviews, photos and tapes from those early days 
of TV programming.  

10:45 - 11:45 a.m. - Dancing Through Life with Mike and  Cheryl Niland 
Dance instructors Mike and Cheryl Niland says any type of dance  can enhance 
life through exercise, mental stimulation, and simple enjoyment. And  they want 
to share their love of dance! Watch them dance the Hustle as  well as other 
ballroom dances, and ending with the Argentine Tango. They will  also ask 
for a volunteer or two, to give a beginning tango lesson! Come and  
experience the joy that dancing can bring!

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. -  Genealogy: Discovering Your Family History with Vicki 
Vigil Thinking about  working on your family tree, but don't know where to 
start? Author Vicki  Vigil will share what she knows and tell you how to 
begin. She will show you how  to fill out a five-generation chart, and where to 
begin your search for needed  family information. She will also give an 
overview of how to find and  access records and how to make sense of the 
often-confusing Census.
