[NEohioPAL] Live Rock and Roll at Firestone High School on 11.6.09

*(Friday, October 16, 2009 – Akron, OH) -- *Firestone High School plans to
be the “school of rock” for at least one night as it prepares to present its
first rock and roll event in years. *Stone Stock 2009* is a one-time rock
concert featuring two “old-school” Akron bands in addition to some current
area bands as well as a handful of bands comprised of current FHS students.
The event will be held in the school auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m. on
Friday, November 6, 2009.

All tickets are general admission and cost $10.00. Tickets will ba available
in the school commons from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily starting Monday,
November 6, 2009. Tickets are also available at the following Akron
locations: Made-in-Akron, Square Records, and Rubber City Clothing Co.

The exciting line-up of bands includes the long-time popular local favorites
*The Bizarros* in addition to a band that is comprised of members of *Tin
Huey* and the local band *Houseguest*. Other currently active bands set to
appear on the bill include *Tiger Fighter*, *Will Cleary*, *Maid Myriad*,
and the *Kristoffer Carter Show*. The line-up is completed by additional
rock acts by FHS students including singer/songwriter *Katie Jetter*, and
the bands *Granite Union* and *Polymerization*. *Stone Stock 2009* promises
to be a night filled with great music and long-lasting memories. Call the

All proceeds from the event benefit the Friends of Firestone VPA, a
non-profit 501(c)3 organization created to provide additional financial
support to all arts at Firestone High School. This organization was founded
in 2007 and has already provided much needed funds for various guest artists
and numerous master classes in addition to over $4000.00 in college
scholarships to students who now continue their arts education in college.
Firestone is the high school campus for visual and performing arts in the
Akron Public Schools. Students from all over the city and throughout the
area enroll at Firestone High School to undertake a rigorous course of study
in either choral music, dance, instrumental music, theatre, or visual art.
