SCA SPOTLIGHT YOUTH THEATER STUDENTS
PRESENT “G2K OKLAHOMA”

Solon Center for the Arts is proud to announce the opening of “G2K Oklahoma”
on Thursday, November 5 in the Calvetta Bros. Floor Show Theater. This
condensed version of the quintessential American Musical will be presented
by SCA’s highly talented and rapidly growing group of Spotlight Youth
Theater students.

“G2K Oklahoma” is a marvelous adaptation of the original Rodgers and
Hammerstein production “Oklahoma”. In this adaptation for pre-high school
students the content has been edited to better suit younger attention spans,
but all the elements that made the original production, first seen on
Broadway in 1943, a classic are still in place.

Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, this
musical tells the tale of Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome
farm girl, who are very much in love, but too proud to admit it. Surrounding
these headstrong romantics are many interesting characters that enrich the
story with their humorous antics and high-spirited singing and dancing. The
characters of Ado Annie, Aunt Eller, Will Parker and Ali Hakim all enrich
the piece with their colorful personalities. In the end it is these
characters who help Laurey and Curly realize, in spite of their somewhat
bumpy road to love, that there is no doubt they will succeed in making a new
life together. That this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides
the ultimate climax to the triumphant “Oklahoma”.

In her SCA directing debut is Jolene McPherson. She has led the
cast of highly talented fifth through eight graders with the help of
choreographer Stephanie K. Reed and musical director William Shaffer. Cast
members include Brett Castro, Joshua Chernomorets, Anna Edelman, Kyle
Fisher, Katie Hammond, Rachel Horn, Megan Hurwitz, Kristin Kapusta, Rachel
Kapusta, Julie Kendall, Jamie Kraig, Braylee LeClair, Matthew Lohiser,
Hunter Lowy, Taylor Lurie, Meredith Maiorana, Taylor Parker, Brooke Pohle,
Rachel Prokopius, Maya Rizkala, Annie Roman, Ross Simpson, Avery Smith,
Danielle Stanek, Hannah Tucker and Alison Wright.

These superb young performers will appear on the SCA stage November 5 at
7:00pm, November 6 at 7:30 pm and November 7 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. To
