THE CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF ARTS THEATER ARTS PROGRAM PRESENTS “INVISIBLE FRIENDS” AND “A STAR AINT NOTHIN’ BUT A HOLE IN HEAVEN” AT THE CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE IN THE STUDIO THEATER DECEMBER 4 – 13, 2009

Cleveland (OH) – Cleveland School of the Arts Theater Arts Program will produce Invisible Friends and A Star Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hole in Heaven December 4 – 13, 2009 at the Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Ave, in the Studio Theater.

Invisible Friends, a wild comedy, examines the domestic adventures of teenager Lucy who is disgruntled with her unappreciative family. She invents an imaginary friend to hang out with, but tumbles into a new and crazy dimension when this new friend, and her even stranger family, come to life. Dr. Scott Miller, Director of CSA’s Theater Arts Program, directs Alan Ayckburn’s hilarious children’s classic.

A Star Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hole in Heaven is Judi Ann Mason’s poignant story of a young girl being raised by her elderly aunt and nearly blind uncle, and how she struggles with the opportunity of going to college and having to leave them behind. A Star… is staged by venerated local actress/director Nina Domingue, an artist-in-residence at CSA.

These productions, featured in repertoire, showcase the talents of CSA students for school and public audiences. The 16-show run includes 8 public performances. Adult tickets are $10 and students pay $6. If you pay to see one show, the admission to the second show is half-price. To reserve tickets contact the Friends of Cleveland School of the Arts at 216.421.7690.

The CSA Theatre Arts Program has presented plays at Karamu Performing Arts Center, Idea Center and throughout the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in addition to the Cleveland Play House. Each year CSA Theatre Arts students write, direct, design and perform original plays and poetry for the CSA Annual New Play, Film and Poetry Festival. Graduates from CSA Theatre Arts Program have attended such colleges as Drama Centre in London, England, The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, California Institute of the Arts, The Ohio State University, Howard University and Skidmore College.
