*Discover Character Development through Scene Study

Ages: 8th grade - Adult
Instructor: Elizabeth Townsend
Ten Sessions, Mondays, starting January 4, 2010; 7:30 – 9:30pm
Fee: $195

Hone your skill and your acting technique through scene study designed to
meet your specific challenges. Whether you are interested in classical text
or contemporary, here is your opportunity stretch and learn. This course
will be featuring the use of the following techniques for character
development and interaction: Stanislavski, Meisner, and Chekhov. At the end
of the term, there will be a performance open to the public

Elizabeth Ann Townsend* is a professional actress and teacher. She is a
graduate of Columbia University in New York City where she lived, worked,
and studied as an actress for 22 years. She has performed in nearly all of
the major venues in Cleveland. Most recently, she was seen as the mother in
The Cleveland Play House's production of *A Christmas Story*. She was a
featured player in HBO's hit series "*The Sopranos*" and NBC's *"Law &
Order."* She has also been featured in numerous independent films and has
been a principle player in many national network commercials.

Elizabeth's training in New York includes: 3 years with The American
Stanislavski Theatre, 3 years of Meisner training and advanced scene study
with Wynn Handman of The American Place Theatre and 3 years of advanced
training with Alice Spivak, a protégé of Uta Hagan.

As a teacher, Elizabeth began coaching actors in New York City. In
Cleveland, she has taught commercial acting for The Cleveland Play House and
Shaker High School, Film Acting for the Cleveland School of the Arts. She is
one of the
Conservatory teachers at The Beck School of the Arts. She will be working
with teenagers this winter/spring in the Curtain Pullers series at The
Cleveland Play House.

In all the work that Elizabeth does, she has one goal: to help people live
the lives they dream of.
