The Actor’s Cover Letter – Helping Your Resume Deliver the Best Pitch Possible by Sean Pratt

A great cover letter tells the reader why you’re contacting them and creates a sense of anticipation about evaluating your resume.

You would be shocked at how many picture/resumes arrive on the desk of a casting director, producer, agent, etc., with no cover letter attached. Though it is inherent in the relationship of the actor to these people that the former is seeking the attention of the latter, the fact that the actor’s P/R contains no introduction or even an explanation as to why they are submitting themselves shows a lack of professionalism, research, and respect. This is why a well crafted cover letter, backed up by a targeted resume, can make all the difference as to whether or not you get that interview or audition.
