just google "nehst"... don't care what the film commission is trying to do but they're [hehst] kind of a scam artist... even though it's not illegal to do what they're doing to our local talent, it's definitely disrespectful. Charging for auditions... fat chance! Try that crap in Hollywood, you'll be hunted down!!! At least I hope you'll be hunted out of Cleveland by our actors. Haha.

Help me understand this NEHST income/funding plan:

1.  Does Cleveland have a SAG office?  If so, has SAG taken a position on actors paying for auditions? 

2.  It is my understanding that casting companies and actor agents are not permitted to charge actors up-front fees for auditions and placement.  Commissions are paid by the actor from actor income after the role that is actually cast.  (This, in fact, has been my own experience.)  Is this true--no up-front fees?

3.  Everyone knows that it's terribly hard to get film made anywhere, let alone Cleveland; and that producers need to be innovative and creative in funding their projects.  Are actors fair game as a funding source (leaving aside actual actor produced projects, in which the actor's own role is, of course, guaranteed).  Can anyone provide other examples of squeezing the actors, or are such tactics a sign of a weak, under-resourced production company?

4.  Is actor-funded film the future of Cleveland?

5.  What does the "NEHST SCHEME" do to and for the casting companies and actor agents in Cleveland.  Good or bad?

6.  I like the quote: "I advocate the high road--it makes for so much more room on the low road."  Any application to the situation here?

7.  Does Cleveland have a SAG office?  If so, has SAG taken a position on actors paying for auditions?  (I think I may have repeated this question).  

8.  Leaving everything else aside, is this a good idea?
