The Youngstown Playhouse will hold auditions for the musical comedy "who-done-it", CURTAINS, Thursday and Friday, January 28 and 29 at 7 p.m.
 
The Broadway smash hit is a send-up of the classic, backstage murder mystery plot. Set in 1959 Boston, CURTAINS follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of "Robbin' Hood of the Old West" is murdered during her opening night curtain call. A police detective who moonlights as a musical theatre fan, attempts to save the show, solve the case and maybe even find love, without getting killed himself. CURTAINS was written by Rupert Brooks, with music and lyrics by the renowned team of John Kander and Fred Ebb.
 
The Playhouse production is directed by Michael Dempsey. Gary Kekel is Musical Director and Carrie Mazzucco is Choreographer.
 
The large cast (25+) requires males and females, 16 years and up. Those auditioning will be asked to:
 
- Bring sheet music and perform a 1 minute vocal selection. An accompanist will be provided.
- Be prepared to dance, and wear appropriate clothing to comfortably move
- Be asked to read from the script
- Bring a wallet size photo.
 
Call backs will be held on Sunday, January 31 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals will begin in mid-March. Playing dates for CURTAINS are weekends, May 14 - May 23. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2:30 p.m. For further information, call the box office at (330) 788-8739.
