Some of you may be thinking about summer workopportunities in the theatre. There are Technical Interviews this Saturdayfor jobs around the region. Rather than flip burgers this summer, perhaps you might like to seek work in THEATRE. Please pass this alongto any of your theatre friends who might be out of work or looking forwork.

Dear Ohio-area theatre colleagues,
Please forgive this mass email. I serve on the Board of the Ohio
Theatre Alliance, and I've been asked to send out an urgent call to
theatre programs in our area to encourage their tech students and
recent alums to consider the upcoming OTA Annual Auditions and
Technical Interviews in New Concord, Ohio on Saturday January 23.
This is a very student-friendly environment, especially for talented
tech students with limited experience. It is also an exciting
opportunity for your more seasoned tech veterans. It is also vital
to the health of OTA that we recruit a strong group of tech students
so that we keep pulling in the best producers to hire them and our actors.
If you know students who would benefit from this experience and may
seek tech work outside your program, especially in the summer, please
encourage them to submit a registration form. If you know other
theatre programs or colleagues that could benefit from this
announcement, please forward it on to them. The easiest way to get
the information you need is to go to the OTA website:
http://ohiotheatrealliance.org/
You'll find printable forms and a description of the tech interview
process, and well as an option to connect with the OTA Facebook page.
Here's a quick excerpt from the tech interview section of the website
to answer your students' most basic questions:
Technical Interviews
For Designers, Technicians, Stage Managers, and Administrators:
Technical interviews will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and
1p.m. to 4 p.m. Immediately after registration, technicians will
begin to schedule appointments with producers. The length of the
interview will be determined by the producing organization. An
appointment sheet will be available in the registration lobby.
Technical interviewees are expected to bring a professional portfolio
and full resume.
N.B. - You must be 18 or older by January 24 to audition or interview!
Last year, representatives from 24 theaters from all over the region
watched 202 auditionees and interviewed 35 technicians for work in
the professional theatre. More than 75 different colleges and
professional theaters were represented by the auditionees.
Additionally, 86% of the auditionees received at least one callback
and more than 50% received at least 3 callbacks. Approximately 70
auditionees were called back for dance auditions.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Diane Rao
at drao at muskingum.edu
Thank you for any encouragement you can provide to your students to take part.
