NEW WORKS SOUGHT FOR BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE
NEW PLAY FESTIVAL

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin-Wallace College currently is seeking submissions for the second annual New Play Festival to be produced in the fall of 2010. The first festival came about as a result of the theatre faculty's desire to provide meaningful opportunities for B-W theatre students, while dealing with the current economy.

"Innovation in theatre throughout history has often, out of necessity, happened as a result of financial restrictions. What better way to understand what is truly important in this art form than to deal with a piece of work at its most basic level. The development of new works is vital to the future of theatre in American and the students who participate in the festival are, in a very real sense, pioneers," said Charlotte Yetman and Jeff Herrmann, producers of the New Play Festival.

In preparation for the 2010 New Play Festival, the department invites playwrights to submit plays for consideration to the B-W Theatre Play Selection Committee. Plays may cover any subject matter and should be from 10 minutes to 45 minutes in length. Submissions may be submitted electronically to theatre at bw.edu<mailto:theatre at bw.edu> or through "snail" mail to B-W Theatre Play Selection Committee, 275 Eastland Rd., Berea, OH 44017-2088.
Submissions must be received by April 1. A decision on the plays selected will be made by May 1.

For questions, call the theatre office at 440-826-2239.
