MOST PERFORMED PLAY IN AMERICA COMES TO TRI-C

"The Laramie Project" chronicles the horrific murder of a gay college
student

CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C R) Metropolitan and Eastern
Campus Theatre Departments will present
<http://www.tectonictheaterproject.org/The_Laramie_Project.html#4> "The
Laramie Project," a compelling play about life in a small town after the
horrific murder of a gay University of Wyoming student. In October, 1998,
21-year-old Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die,
tied to a fence in the middle of a prairie outside of Laramie, Wyo. "The
Laramie Project" is one of the most performed plays in America today.

The show, directed by Tri-C's Dean of Creative Arts, Brian Bethune, Ph.D.,
will run on the following dates:

The play was written by Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre
Project, who made six trips to Laramie over the course of a year and
conducted more than 200 interviews with people of the town. From those
interviews, they constructed a deeply moving theatrical experience that
explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion
of which humans are capable of showing.

General admission tickets for the show are $10 and $8 for students and
seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event or by
calling 216-987-4211.
<http://www.tri-c.edu/campuspolice/pages/parkingservices.aspx> Parking is
available in designated visitor lots on each Tri-C campus for $1 for a
two-hour time block, or a hangtag permit can be purchased for 75 cents.
