The First Foibles, the First Fears and Frustrations . . . First Mondays invites you to share an evening with Laura and “GW” on Monday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in The Alcazar, the historic residence at the top of Cedar Hill in the Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. Elizabeth Townsend, George Roth, Joe Verciglio and Tim Keo are featured in this most unusual love story.

Playwright Ashley Minihan has crafted a rare and gentle comedy, a look at life in the First Bedroom where Laura struggles with her duties as First Hostess while wondering along with many middle-aged women where her life has gone and why and whether there isn’t something she can do to get it back. George wanders in and out bringing news of the outside world, but little in the way of consolation. He’s a loving and supportive husband, who hasn’t a clue about what’s troubling his wife. But he sure is glad she’s nothing like his mother.

The playwright will be on hand to discuss her work following the reading. A graduate of Brown University and New York University, Ashley Minihan lives and works in New York city. Her first play Ophelia was produced at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival and by Arizona Classical Theatre in 2005.

The Alcazar is located at 2450 Derbyshire, just off Cedar Road (behind Bruegger’s Bagels). Street parking is available on Derbyshire and Surrey, as well as metered parking in several city lots. Visit www.thealcazar.com for more details.

Admission is $5 at the door. Special arrangements for handicapped parking inside The Alcazar garage can be made by calling 216.321.5400 on the day of the program.
