The Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Academy announces the opening of one of
its final productions of the 2009-2010 season: Anton Chekhov’s masterpiece
*THE THREE SISTERS*. The play opens Friday, April 30 and plays for four
performances through May 2: Friday April 30 at 7:30, Saturday, May 1 at
7:30 and Sunday, May 2 at 2 and 7:30. in the Academy Studio Theatre at
Chagrin Falls High School.

Directed by Tom Fulton, The *Three Sisters* cast includes the senior members
of the Academy who are celebrating their two years of intensive study in
acting and the theatre. The cast includes members of the Performing Arts
Academy.

The Three Sisters is considered one of the greatest plays of the modern
theatre; so marvelously organized, made, realized – so intricate in its
design that it consistently moves it’s audiences to peaks of laughter and
powerful moments of yearning and compassion. “It is a play of love and
dreams passed by,” says Tom Fulton, director of this production.

Mr. Fulton is a critically acknowledged director, particularly of Chekhov’s
plays. He has been lucky enough to direct the majority of Chekhov’s work
over his professional theatre career, including a 1980 production of Three
Sisters for The Phoenix Theatre Ensemble which won the *Cleveland Critics
Circle Award* for best professional production. He recently directed “The
Seagull” for the Beck Center and has written his own translation/adaptation
of Uncle Vanya, which was performed for the Cleveland Theatre Company. In
1990, he directed The Cherry Orchard.

As director of the Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Academy, Mr. Fulton sees
the theatre as a powerful tool for self-development; a place where students
discover themselves and learn to see that the courage to create, inspiration
and craft, ultimately come from within. This production will be a
culmination of 2 years of this intensive study before these students head
off for college.

THE THREE SISTERS is designed by Ben Needham; technical direction by Marcus
Dana; Stage Management by Mandi Stevens; the beautiful 19th century
costumes, designed by Caitlin Sandham; sound design by Mark Balderelli.

The Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Academy is housed at Chagrin Falls High. It
is a college-preparatory program that chooses its students by audition from
a coalition of ten school districts. Using professional guest artists from
the theatre, voice and dance profession and a highly skilled staff, the
program offers professional and creative training in theatre and the
performing arts for accepted students. The mission of the Academy is *t**o
provide talented high school juniors and seniors with a joyful, challenging
and inspiring training experience in the performing arts; one that builds
confidence, courage and mastery in creative self expression and prepares
students for high-level college and professional opportunities.***
