Lake Erie Playwrights Competition- 2011
Cuyahoga Community College
Cash prize of $1000 awarded for first place, $500 for second and $250
for third place winner and an invitation to visit Cuyahoga Community
College (Tri-C) for play reading by Theatre students at award reception.
Travel and accommodations will be provided. Committee may select any of
the top three plays for a possible production by theatre department at
Cuyahoga Community College the following season.
The Division of Creative Arts reserves the right to use the name of the
play and the author's name in all publicity and promotions. In the event
of any subsequent production or publication of the winning manuscript
(or versions thereof), and as one of the stipulations of the award, the
author agrees to indicate in a footnote or in the playbill that the
script was named winner of the Lake Erie Playwrights Competition for
2011, and if applicable, that the play was produced at Cuyahoga
Community College.
Rules:
Types of material: original full-length plays, no musicals or
adaptations will be accepted. Plays must be at least one hour. Any genre
or subject is accepted.
Cover page must include name of script, playwrights name and address,
email and phone. Please include character and set breakdown.
Unproduced, unpublished work only. Playwright must be a resident of
Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan or Indiana to qualify.
Cuyahoga Community College reserves the right to accept or reject any
play submitted. Decisions of the judges are final.
Entry fee is $25 to cover administration costs. Deadline: September 1,
2010
Notification: February 2011, award ceremony March 2011.
