Help Local Writers "Fine Tune" Their Skills
The May Fine Tuning program features new works by five local writers, and
will be held at the New York Deli and Grille on the South East corner of
Wilson Mills Road and Water Street in Chardon on May 24th at 7 p.m.
Works include Eleventh Hour Confession, a tense jail cell drama by Gregory
J. Lavelle; poems by Grace Butcher and Sharon Haynes; the opening scenes
from Joc-O-Sot, a drama by Joanne Durante about the Amerindian who lies
buried in Downtown Cleveland's Erie Street Cemetery; and the next
installment of Laurel Beth Gans' Pre-Dent, a humorous novel about a young
woman attempting to get into a dental school program.
The Fine Tuning format allows writers to hear their works read by actors
before an audience, and to engage them in a lively discussion of the
scripts. For local actors, who may not have the time to commit to a fully
staged production, the program provides an opportunity to fine tune their
talents on challenging new work.
Live musical accompaniment will be provided by Roxbury. The program is free
and open to the general public, and is held in the party room of the New
York Deli and Grille, where optional dinner fare, beverages, and desserts
will be available from their full menu.
