NEW!! Shakespeare Performance Intensive is a summer workshop designed as a crash course in Shakespearean language and performance. Students will learn how to approach Shakespeare's text as well as fundamentals of acting Shakespearean plays, specific memorization techniques and characterization methods. Specific skills include: Acting with iambic pentameter and scansion, using operative words and level of commitment - both physical and linguistic. Collaboratively, students will create a performance for the final day of class.  Karen Sabo has studied Shakespeare at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and at Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts. She has played numerous roles in Shakespeare productions, and directed her own adaptation of The Tempest for the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre in Tennessee. She has taught Shakespearean acting techniques to private students and as part of traditional acting classes for many years. Karen is currently teaching at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Additional Summer Camps 2010

Vocal Music Technique covers the fundamentals of vocal technique, and is suitable for beginners to intermediate singers.
Specific topics include posture, breathing and support, eliminating muscular tension, resonance, and diction.
Each student will apply these techniques through work on 2 vocal pieces, a musical theater number and a classical piece.
Time is allotted for group exercises and voluntary solo singing.

Kids Take the Stage Summer Camps engage students in acting, improvisation, staging, auditioning and technical theater.
The class uses theater games to teach the fundamentals, and focuses on collaboratively creating a performance for the class day.

Musical Theater is a summer session custom designed to meet the needs of individual students.

The Broadway Dance Camp is a summer session custom designed to meet the needs of beginning and intermediate students.
Theater training in movement for the stage, dance steps and combinations, acting & audition techniques allows each student to advance at his or her own pace.
Collaboratively, students create a performance for the final day of class.

Summer Stock is a workshop designed for students who have already had some theatrical experience.
Students will produce and design a full production to be performed on our mainstage.
The title of this piece is TBA - check our website for more information.
The final performances will be held on August 6 & 7 at 7:00 p.m. Space is limited!
