DOBAMA Theatre’s Playwright’s GYM 


The Playwright’s GYM is a new Dobama program that allows local area
playwrights the opportunity to workshop new plays.  The GYM will also afford
new directors the opportunity to work with experienced directors and to
direct scenes versus the burden of a full-length production. The GYM’s goal
is to help playwrights through to the end of his/her process with an eye on
uncovering new plays to be performed at Dobama.

Synopsis:
Between 1868 and 1874, Édouard Manet painted Berthe Morisot more than a
dozen times.  Then she married his brother.  

Morisot was not a professional model, but an artist in her own right, a
groundbreaking woman who bowed to the strictures of her bourgeois life yet
also made a successful career.  Manet's portraits of her reveal Morisot's
passion and lively intelligence, inspiring more than 100 years of
speculation by art lovers and critics alike as to the true nature of their
relationship.
 
Admission is $5 at the door.
