Don’t miss our upcoming theatre season featuring: Altar Boyz; Little Shop of
Horrors, Steel Magnolias, Raisin in the Sun, You’re A Good Man Charlie
Brown, The 9th Ship: Battle of Lake Erie; and Big River: The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn.  TrueNorth at French Creek is a beautiful state of the art
performance center nestled in the heart of 400 acres of Lorain County Metro
Parks woodland along the French Creek in Sheffield Village; 25 minutes west
from downtown Cleveland, Rt. 611, off of I-90.

Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday the first weekend and include
Thursdays the following two weekends ... 11 performances per production.

AUDITIONS – A RAISIN IN THE SUN

A Raisin in the Sun written by Lorraine Hansberry

The title of this play comes from the poem Harlem (also known as A Dream
Divided by Langston Hughes. Set on the South Side of Chicago in the 1950’s,
the play is based on an African-American family as they struggle with
poverty, racism and inner conflict. There will be special matinee
performances of this play for school groups on February 4, 11 and 18th.

This groundbreaking and impactful play offers some of the greatest roles in
the American theatre.

ROLES:

Males:

Walter Lee Younger:            30’s - husband of Ruth, father of Travis,
brother of Beneatha, and son of Lena (Mama) Younger.

Walter Younger:                   50’s – 60’s  Husband of Lena Younger,
father of Walter Lee and Beneatha, and grandfather of Travis.

Joseph Asagai:                       An African college student from
Nigeria. Good looking, personable.

George Murchison:               Beneatha's other boyfriend, he too is a
college student

Travis Younger:                    The ten-year-old son of Walter and Ruth
Younger.

Karl Lindner:                        30’s – 50’s -  A weak and ineffectual
middle-aged white man.

Bobo:                                      30’s - Dimwitted friend of Walter
Lee who, along with another friend, Willy.

Two Moving Men:                20’s-40’s – Non-Speaking Roles.

Females:

Ruth Younger:                      30’s -  wife of Walter Lee Younger and
the mother of Travis, their ten-year-old son

Lena Younger (Mama):        40’s – 60’s - mother of Walter Lee and Beneatha,
mother-in-law of Ruth, and grandmother of Travis.

Beneatha Younger:               20’s -  sister of Walter Lee and the
daughter of Lena Younger.

Mrs. Johnson:                        30’s – 60’s - Brash and abrasive
neighbor of the Youngers.

Rehearsals to take place in December and January.  Stipend will be shared
with each actor for school performances, February 4, 11 and 18
