SOLON CENTER FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE 2009-10 SCA DANCE
ENSEMBLES

*Auditions for the 2010 -2011 SCA Dance Ensemble will take place on
Saturday, August 14 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at the SCA Dance Studios. The
Junior Dance Ensemble audition for ages 9 to 13 will take place from 10:00
am to 11:30 am and the Senior Dance Ensemble audition for ages 13 to 18 will
take place from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The audition will consist of a brief
ballet barre and modern warm-up, followed by learning a few excerpts of
choreography. Heather Koniz, SCA’s Dance Coordinator, and Michelle Mannino,
SCA Dance Instructor, will teach the audition class and a panel of three
judges will make assessments based on artistry, technique and ease of
understanding material. Dancers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start
of each group audition.

The SCA Dance Ensembles are a group of talented dancers who exhibit
artistry, passion and a desire to share their love of dance with the
surrounding community. The Ensembles will perform at various community
outreach locations including retirement facilities and nursing homes and
will be featured in all of the SCA Dance Recitals. In addition to these
performances, the Ensemble students will have the opportunity to work with
several dance instructors and companies from the surrounding community and
benefit from discounted tickets to local dance performances, master classes
and workshops.

SCA’s Junior Dance Ensemble class will take place on Wednesday evenings from


7:15 pm to 8:30 pm and SCA’s Senior Dance Ensemble will be held on Wednesday
evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm. Both classes begin Wednesday, September 15
and run through June 8, 2011 . The total cost to participate in either
Ensemble is $425.00 for the year. All Dance Ensemble students are required
to be enrolled in a SCA ballet class and should also be enrolled in one
additional technique class.

More detailed information about performances and workshops will be available
