*Pride and Prejudice – August 12th – August 15th*

*Original adaptation by James Maxwell - revised by Alan Stanford - Book by
Jane Austen Directed by Mitchell B. Fields*

The carefully controlled and chess-like movements of polite society often
conceal passionate hearts, keen minds, and rebellious wills. High-spirited
Elizabeth Bennet attempts to stay true to her ideals while her meddlesome
mother schemes to get all five Bennet sisters married and to secure their
family's fate at all costs. Can a girl who refuses to abandon her
independent and scrutinizing ways find true love and a faithful heart? More
than one unexpected twist and shocking revelation await our heroine as she
must choose between the dashing Mr. Wickham and the proud, aloof Mr. Darcy.

Jane Austen is regarded as one of the finest woman writers of her time. Her
work is most well-known for the way she makes her characters seem so
realistic, the way she explores the nuances of relationships, and the way
she makes fun of the trends and attitudes of her era. For all its wit and
good humor, Pride and Prejudice is deeply concerned with the moral values in
life, and her satire is at its finest when aimed at the snobbish and
presumptuous. Pride and Prejudice remains one of Austen's best-loved and
best-known works**
