Dear artist/performer friend,

As you may already know, I am running for county council for district 7. My 30-year career in the arts – founding Cleveland Public Theatre, launching the Gordon Square Arts District and co-creating the Ingenuity Festival of Art and Technology – has proven my commitment to provide opportunities for artists and innovators like you.

I envision many possibilities for transforming Cleveland into a thriving city by taking advantage of its many existing resources, some related to arts and culture, some related to the natural resources that abound here. I also envision cultivating new opportunities and resources based on the ideas and creativity of the entrepreneurs and innovators that are so plentiful here.

My career reflects my passion and devotion to the transformational power of the arts, and I am committed to bringing Cleveland’s natural resources to the forefront. Our beautiful lake, rivers and expansive parks should be supported and developed to provide a quality of life for all residents and visitors that has yet to be fully realized. District 7 includes these neighborhoods: Ohio City, Tremont, Downtown, Slavic Village, South Hills, Glenville, Superior/St. Clair, Hough/Norwood, Fairfax, University Circle and Little Italy.

I’m appealing to the artistic community for support to make this vision a reality. If you are able to help in any of the following ways, it would go a long way toward that goal:

-       --Vote for me in the September 7 primary or, better yet, request an absentee ballot now

-       --Let others know that I am running and encourage them to vote for me, too

     (send an e-blast, post a Facebook message, text or call friends)

-      -- Help canvass neighborhoods in my district with literature and door-to-door work

-      -- Put a yard sign in your yard or apartment window

-       --Distribute yard signs to other supporters

-       --Help with mailings and phone banks

-       --Send some dollars for the campaign

-       --Hold a house party fundraiser with your friends

-       --Come up with creative ideas for helping and share them with me
