Ten men and seven women are needed (although some roles may be either) for the upcoming production of 1940's Radio Hour. The show will be directed by Rich Jagunic, with musical direction by Debbie Burkhart.

Auditions are set for Monday and Tuesday, October 4 and 5. Registration begins at 7:00 pm and auditions will begin at 7:30 each night. An accompanist will be provided.

Those auditioning for singing roles must have a prepared musical selection and sheet music or accompaniment track. There will also be a short dance audition as well as readings from the script. Those wishing to audition for non-singing roles will not have to dance.

A different time is evoked in this marvelously theatrical and winning show, a live broadcast of The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor's Algonquin Room on December 21, 1942. The harassed producer copes with a drunk lead singer, the delivery boy who wants a chance in front of the mike, the second banana who dreams of singing a ballad, and the trumpet playing sound effects man who chooses a fighter plane over Glenn Miller.

The spirit of that bygone era when the world was at war and pop music meant "Strike Up the Band" "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," and "I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo" (all of which are in the show), is wonderfully captured.

Full of 1940s big-band music, swing dancing, patriotism, and old-fashioned sound effects, The 1940s Radio Hour is a holiday treat for the whole family and is rated "G."

According to reviewers, 1940's Radio Hour is a. "Totally exhilarating hour of singing, dancing and funny commercials."-- N.Y. Daily News. "This is fun with a capital fun." -- ABC TV.

Performances of 1940's Radio Hour will be December 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, and 11.
