Play synopsis:  CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION follows five small-town
Vermonters as they take a community acting class, each with their own
expectations.  They soon learn more about each other and themselves than
they bargained for.  Annie Baker's new play, extended four times at the
off-Broadway Playwrights Horizons, is a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri
dish in which we see, with hilarious detail and clarity, the antic sadness
of a motley quintet. 

 

Characters:  

 

Marty:  age 55, co-runs a Community Center in Vermont, a good teacher,
married to James.  

James:  age 60, married to Marty.  A product of the late 1960's, has a
daughter from his first marriage. Can hula-hoop. 
 
Schultz:  age 48.  A carpenter, recently divorced.
 
Theresa:  age 35.  Former NYC actress, can hula-hoop well. 

Lauren:  age 16.  Half Lebanese and half Irish.  Wants to be an actress.

 

Production dates:  April 22 - May 15, 2011

 

Audition:  Readings from the script but be prepared with a 2-minute
contemporary monologue.

 

AEA contracts:  There are 1-2 AEA Contracts available for this production.
(AEA contracts are based on the Special Appearance Agreement).
Non-AEA Contracts will pay $450 each.
