Hello everyone!
CVLT wishes to thank *Cuyahoga Arts and Culture*
<http://www.cacgrants.org/> and the tax payers of Cuyahoga County for
our increased grant funding ($34,379 annually for the next two years).
This is roughly $4,400 more per year than CVLT has received since the
CAC award began, and was raised based on an increase in the theatre's
annual income since the initial award in 2008. This grant funding, along
with assistance from the Ohio Arts Council and direct support from
generous patrons like you, goes a long way in helping our 99%
volunteer-operated organization to make ends meet.
Be sure to tune into WVIZ/PBS ideastream® this Wednesday at 8:00 PM
(EST) to see *Tim Conway* on /Backstage With...
<http://www.wviz.org/WVIZ/backstage>/ This interview was recorded on
June 8, 2010 during Tim's visit to CVLT. Host Scott Simon conducted the
interview, and audience questions came from some of CVLT's /Accent on
Youth/ participants, along with CVLT's Julia Kolibab and others
(including a surprise appearance by another local TV legend...)
Also, please take a moment to *vote for CVLT*

Everyone's favorite orphan is back at CVLT for the holiday season in the
classic musical written by Thomas Meehan, with the Strouse/Charmin songs
you know and love, like "Tomorrow", "Easy Street", "Maybe" and "It's the
Hard Knock Life".
Based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip /Little Orphan Annie/,
the musical ran for nearly six years on Broadway, setting a record for
the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre). It spawned numerous
productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the
Tony Award for Best Musical. /Annie/ returns to Broadway in 2012.
*** Tickets for the December 5th matinee are available exclusively

From Jason Robert Brown, the Tony Award winning composer behind
/Parade/, /Songs for a New World/, /Urban Cowboy/ and /13/, comes this
intimate musical about the rise and fall of a modern relationship,
performed with two actors and a piano in CVLT's smaller River Street
Playhouse venue.
Jamie Wellerstein (Andrew Rothman) is an up-and-coming novelist who left
Columbia U. to pursue his literary career in NYC. Cathy Hiatt (Rebecca
Marks) is a struggling theater actress from New Jersey. Their story is,
at face value, a classic arc; Jewish boy meets Catholic girl, they fall
in love, marry, and eventually fall apart.
But in /The Last Five Years/, the composer lays out his story through an
unusual twisting of the timeline; Cathy tells her side of the
relationship starting with the post-mortem, while Jamie begins his
telling of the story with the first date. The two characters move in
opposite directions through time, alternating dove-tailed solo musical
performances, only meeting to sing as a duo at their engagement and
wedding in the middle of the tale. The unique bi-directional
storytelling style balances the soaring highs of fresh love with the
crushing lows of the breakup through fifteen memorable songs.

Playwright Wendy Weiner blends the life of protagonist Hillary Rodham
with a heavy dose of laughter and Greek mythological madness! As a girl
in Illinois, Hillary (Amy Pelleg) worships at the altar of Athena (Erin
Scerbak), the no-nonsense goddess of wisdom and war. Hil's devotion
angers Aphrodite (Kacey Durbin), goddess of love and beauty, who curses
her with Bill Clinton (Mark Moore), described by the play's Greek chorus
(Mark DePompei and Catherine Remick) as "a man of mythical charm and
appetites."
Follow Hillary from high school to Wellesley, from Yale Law School to
Arkansas, and from the White House (where a suspicious intern causes
some conflict) to the Senate.../Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a
(somewhat) Happy Ending/ is a "Hillary-ous" comedy that will take you to
Hell and back!
AUDITIONS for /Bloody Murder
<http://cvlt.org/81stSeason/bloodymurder.php>/
Ed Sala presents an Agatha Christie-style "whodunit", with six
suspicious characters locked in Lady Somerset's countryside estate,
trying to unravel a murder. The wealthy Lady is convinced that they are
merely characters in a mystery story, and the play itself becomes a
hilarious battle between the writer and his creations!

15th* 7-10 PM
Auditions will be held in the dance studio at the River Street
Playhouse, 56 River Street (the white one-story building on the other
side of the parking lot from the main theatre building).
