Hudson Players Open Laugh-Packed Farce: “Moon Over Buffalo” Tonight!

A modern comedy full of misunderstandings, misplaced affections, slamming
doors, half-dressed actors, mistaken identities, mass confusion and missing
persons.

The Hudson Players are preparing to open their 66th season, this Friday
November 5, with the laugh-packed comedy farce – Moon Over Buffalo, written
by Ken Ludwig - the author of the highly popular Lend Me A Tenor. In
addition to the great show, opening night audiences will be invited out
after the production to join the cast and crew for free appetizers and a
cash bar at Hudson’s Restaurant on the Green. Further details and tickets
are available on the Hudson Players website (www.hudsonplayers.com) or by
calling the box office at 330-655-8522.

According to the Players, the Fox 8 Hot List, 2010 Theater Group of the
Year, the play offers an opportunity for those that just want to get out
with friends and laugh and see great local, live theater in a very light
hearted fun filled evening. Dinner and show packages are also available!

Set in 1953, (but written in 1995). Moon Over Buffalo makes a farce out of
the theater itself. Like Lend Me a Tenor or Noises Off or the more modern
movie Waiting for Guffman, Moon Over Buffalo gets its laughs from the
absolutely absurd antics that take place when trying to put a live
production up.

In Ludwig's play, George and Charlotte Hay are stuck in the dreaded
wastelands of Repertory Theater, longing for Broadway and Hollywood. These
two washed-up stars are still dreaming of might-have-beens and trying to
save their dying and quickly going bankrupt company. They're currently
marooned in Buffalo, New York--a place the star-struck have nothing but
disdain for.

Just as they are about to hit rock bottom, they're told that Director Frank
Capra is coming to see their matinee as he's just lost his two starring
actors in the film he's working on. He's interested in casting George and
Charlotte if their performance is any good. This could be their last great
break--except that everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by
a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty
about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf old
stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body. Doors slam,
identities are confused and hilarity ensues. It’s a fast paced, raucous,
comedy farce that promises laughs and good times.

Moon Over Buffalo is being directed by Bob McCoy and produced by Deb Young.

The Hudson Players are located right in the heart of Hudson, Ohio in the
Barlow Community Center and are one of the area’s longest running community
theaters currently celebrating their 65th Season. With a rich history of
great shows, community involvement and an ultra-friendly performing
environment the group embodies its unofficial slogan of “good shows, good
friends, and good times. Up next will be their special holiday production of
It’s A Wonderful Life (A Live Radio Play)
