Join us for an evening of nourishing the mind and soul as we honor Dr. Ellen
Rome
and Dr. Laura Gillespie with comments by Harriet Brown, best-selling author
of
“Brave Girl Eating: A Family’s Struggle with Anorexia.”
The partnership between Fairmount Center for the Arts and The Cleveland
Center for Eating Disorders has grown from a belief that the arts,
specifically socially relevant theater, can help heal the hidden nature of
eating disorders. This collaboration began with Fairmount Center’s recent
production of “EAT (It’s Not About Food),” a play that speaks eloquently
about the world of eating disorders, and society’s obsession with food,
weight and body image.
Established in 1970, Fairmount Center for the Arts is a community arts
center that offers programming and instruction in dance, music, fitness,
visual arts and theater for students and audiences of all ages.
The Eating Disorder Network, founded by The Cleveland Center for Eating
Disorders, offers a safe community in which hope, support and education are
offered in a non-judgmental way to people affected by eating disorders.
We understand that eating disorders are biologically based illnesses,
treatable with a combination of nutritional, medical, and therapeutic
support. EDN seeks to complement and extend the opportunities to heal and
recover.
