Broadway veteran will headline cast of Present Laughter

at Coach House Theatre

Nov. 26, Dec. 19, 2010

$12 Preview Performance, Friday Nov. 26 (only)

Veteran stage, screen and television actor Daren Kelly, who has appeared in
several Broadway hits and national touring productions, will headline the
cast of Noel Coward's charming and clever comedy, Present Laughter, on stage
at Akron's Coach House Theatre throughout the holiday season. Mr. Kelly
comes to Akron courtesy of Coach House's Guest Actor grant, donated by the
Ohio Shakespeare Festival.

In Present Laughter, Mr. Kelly plays successful and self-obsessed matinee
idol Garry Essendine, who is preparing a world tour of his latest hit play.
Amidst a series of farcical events, Garry must try to resist the many
beautiful women who wish to seduce him, placate his estranged wife, business
partners and long-suffering secretary, cope with a crazed young playwright,
and overcome his fear of his own approaching mid-life crisis.

Mr. Kelly was last seen in Akron as the Ghost of John Barrymore in Ohio
Shakespeare Festival's 2008 production of I Hate Hamlet at Stan Hywet Hall &
Gardens. He has been featured in four of Broadway's biggest hits: Deathtrap,
Woman of the Year, Crazy for You, and South Pacific (NYCO). He toured as
Julian in the National Revival of 42nd Street, and as Rev. Moore in
Footloose. For many years Daren played soap opera heartthrob Dan Kennicott
on "All My Children." Other television credits include the entire "Law and
Order" franchise, as well as "True Blood," "M*A*S*H," "Kate and Allie," and
"Tales from the Darkside." Daren has performed Shakespeare, Moliere,
Dickens, Chekhov, Shaw, Ibsen, Albee, Williams, Miller, Guare and Gurney in
regional theatres from Alaska to Florida, and from Maine to California, and
he has had the privilege to perform with Tony Award winners Al Pacino,
Richard Kiley, Lauren Bacall, Sada Thompson, Harriet Harris, John Wood,
Susan Stroman, Mike Ockrent, Karen Ziemba, Stacy Keach, Justino Diaz, John
Cullum, Bob Moore and Barbara BelGeddes.

Having just played Macbeth for the Hip to Hip Theatre Co., Mr. Kelly is
ecstatic to be reunited with Coach House Artistic Director Nancy Cates for
Present Laughter. Mr. Kelly will be joined by a cast of area theatre
veterans including Dede Klein, Maureen E. Guerin-Johnson, Jeremy Jenkins,
Karen Wood, Amanda Davis, Henry C. Bishop, Holly Humes, Scott Shriner, Vince
Richards and Marci Paolucci.

Present Laughter will be presented Nov. 26-Dec. 19. Curtain times are
Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at
2:30 p.m, and one added Saturday matinee, new this season, on Saturday, Dec.
4 at 2:30pm. Dinner or brunch is available to all theatre patrons prior to
every performance, at the Akron Woman's City Club next door. There will be a
special $12 preview performance on Friday, Nov. 26 at 8 pm, with official
opening night on Sat., Nov. 27.
