AUDITION  NOTICE
The Whales of August

Directed by Ron Newell

THE STORY: 
The story of two elderly widowed sisters spending a summer in a seaside house in 
Maine. The surroundings cause them to recall their relationship as young women, 
and the summers they had enjoyed there in the past.  They reflect on the passage 
of time and how past jealousies and misunderstandings kept them from 
establishing a true closeness in their relationship.

CHARACTERS
Women:
Sarah - 70’s
Libby - 80’s
Tisha -  70’s

Men:
Joshua - 60’s-70’s
Maranov - 70’s

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Audition Dates:  Monday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 7 at 7:30pm sharp.  
Auditions will be held at Clague Playhouse, 1371 Clague Road,  Westlake. 


Production Dates: March 11 - April 3, 2011 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 
at 8:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. (No performance on Sunday, March 13.)

Please bring an audition photo and résumé.  Auditioners will be asked  to do 
cold readings from the script with a Maine accent.  A perusal script is 
available at the Clague Playhouse Box Office for a  $10 deposit through December 
4, 2010. Box Office hours are Wednesday - Saturday from 1-6pm.
