Who: Interns and other illustrators willing and able to work on a pro bono basis for the time being. When I get paid, you get paid. I get it if this isn't a satisfactory arrangement for you, but if that's the case, don't reply.

Why: Atrocity Parade, a magazine I'm developing.

Set in a re-imagined Lakewood, in a noirish town called Hatchetnap.

Content is original fiction, halfway between slipstream and bizarro.

Slipstream: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slipstream_(genre)

Bizarro: http://en.-wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizarro_fiction

Styles:

a.. Sketch: A hybrid of penny dreadful-style/Edward Gorey/Children's illustration gone terribly wrong (like something that was meant to be cute but turned out creepy)
  b.. 17th Century Woodcut
  c.. Sideshow poster:
    a.. Nieman Eisman
    b.. Snap Wyatt
    c.. Fred G. Johnson

The Objective: Go public with the prototype issue I've uploaded to WordPress.

                                    Gain exposure.

Fund through Kickstarter and other initiatives.

Publish a print edition of the prototype.

Shop the prototype around to fund a year or two's worth of bimonthly issues, or a couple of compilation editions.

Score a print deal while shopping the prototype around.

The Perks: Illustrators get in on the ground floor of a likely breakout product.

Art from the online edition will illustrate the print edition.

I'll place a link to your online portfolio on my WordPress site.

We can stay in touch so I can find you IF I make any money on this project. No guarantee of payment for the time being, though.

Reply by e'mail to msrg-publications at cox.net, or call 216.389.6784. The best time to call is usually after 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and anytime on weekends. I'm also off all day on Friday, 31 December.

Attach a resume' if you have one, and a link to an online portfolio. Let me know if you have a portfolio that's not online.

Cheers,

Michael A. Miller
