AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE PLAYERS GUILD THEATRE’S 
PRODUCTION OF THE ELEPHANT MAN
 
CANTON, OH- The Players Guild Theatre will hold auditions for their upcoming production of the Tony Award winning drama, The Elephant Man.  Based on the life of John Merrick, The Elephant Man tells the story of a young man who is the victim of a rare skin and bone disease, who has become the star freak attraction in traveling side shows.  When found by the celebrated young physician, Frederick Treves, Merrick is admitted to London’s prestigious Whitechapel hospital, and is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati only to be denied his ultimate dream, to become a man like any other.
 
Auditions will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.  Thursday evening auditions will be scheduled by appointment.  In addition, an open call will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.  Callbacks will be on Saturday the 22nd from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Those interested who would like to schedule an appointment should call:  330-453-7619 extension 500.  
 
Additionally, those interested in auditioning should come prepared with one monologue either dramatic or comedic.
