Kent State University at Stark Theatre announces open auditions for The Glass Menagerie

Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for the season's second theatrical production, The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. This American classic play by one of our greatest playwrights will be performed on April 8-10 and 14-17 in the Kent State Stark Theatre.

Auditions will be held on Friday, Jan. 28 from 2-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 29 from 2-3 p.m. in the theatre of the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.

Auditions are open to everyone, including students, staff and community members. Those auditioning may elect to work from sides (selected scene excerpts) or perform a brief prepared monologue, if they choose, either from the play or another modern realistic script. The director will also choose sides for people and scene partners.

Scripts (and audition sides) are available for perusal for periods up to 24 hours from the secretary of the Fine Arts Building (330-244-5151), during normal business hours, Monday through Thursday (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.) and Friday (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Audition appointments are recommended, but not required. Scripts and audition sides will also be available in the reserve area of the campus library and this play is widely available elsewhere.

Rehearsals for The Glass Menagerie will commence on February 21 and will usually occur approximately five evenings each week until opening.
