*A Mouthful of Birds*

A play with dance by Caryl Churchill and David Lan

Place:  Sandefur Theatre, Guzzetta Hall

*A*ward winning British playwright Caryl Churchill and South African
playwright David Lan have written a stunning dance-theater piece about those
days when we're "possessed." Weaving together seven stories of contemporary
life with moments of *The Bacchae*, the play reveals how vulnerable we all
are to the Dionysian influence. The god of wine and mirth gets under each
character's skin, driving women to telekinesis, men into the arms of pigs,
and everybody into fits of primal dance. *A Mouthful of Birds* is touching,
funny, and always bizarre.

*Roles for at least 5 women and 3 men.*

*Please prepare a short (1-2 minutes), repeatable, movement/action structure
about something that has personally “possessed” you or that you are
“obsessed” with.  This should be rehearsed and structured, not improvised.
You can use music, but no text. Please dress to move and be prepared to stay
for the entire audition period. *

Performance Dates

April 21-23, 28-30 at 8:00 pm and May 1 at 2:00 pm, at Sandefur Theatre.

(Please note:  the first weekend of performances is Easter weekend).

*A Mouthful of Birds* is part of The Dionysus Project, a three year
exploration of the Dionysus myth.
